On a seasonally-adjusted basis, Saskatchewan’s year-over-year manufacturing sales grew by 19.8 per cent to $1.35 billion—tying with Prince Edward Island for the highest growth rate in Canada.  Manufacturing sales in March 2017 increased nationally by 8.2 per cent over March 2016.

“The innovation and competitiveness of Saskatchewan’s manufacturers have earned them a share of the global marketplace and put them on the leading edge of our economic growth,” Economy Minister Jeremy Harrison said.  “Leading the country in manufacturing growth is a testament to the strength and resiliency of our province’s economy.”

Areas that saw prominent year-over-year increases in the province’s manufacturing sector were shipments of food and wood products (23 per cent and 27.8 per cent, respectively) and non-durable goods (22.6 per cent).
